Kansas football coach Mark Mangino has been given a two-year contract extension that raises his compensation to 2.3 million dollars per year.

His new deal runs through 2012.

Mangino is entering his seventh year at Kansas.

He was The Associated Press Coach of the Year last season after guiding the Jayhawks to a 12-and-1 season. Kansas beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl -- the Jayhawks' first BCS bowl victory.
