K.J. Choi has the halfway lead at the British Open. The South Korean birdied his final two holes en route to a 3-under 67 in round two and is 1-under for the tournament.

Newlywed Greg Norman continues his improbable run at a third Open title. The 53-year-old Australian matched par-70 for a second straight day at Royal Birkdale and is a shot off the pace. Norman, who captured the Claret Jug at Turnberry in 1986 and then again at Royal St. George's seven years, later married former tennis star Chris Evert three weeks ago. He's trying to become the oldest player by far to win a major.

Julius Boros was 48 when he captured the PGA Championship in 1968.

Colombia's Camilo Villegas closed out a tournament-best 5-under 65 with an astonishing five straight birdies and is two back of Choi.

Seven golfers sit at plus-2 after 36 holes. The group includes defending champion Padraig Harrington, 2001 British Open champion David Duval, U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate, Jim Fuyrk, Robert Allenby, Graeme McDowell and Alexander Noren.

Last year's runner-up, Sergio Garcia, carded a 73 and stands 5-over after 36 holes.
