Jon Vanderford joined KOLN/KGIN-TV as a 5, 6, and 10 o'clock news anchor in January of 2003.
Jon grew up in Murdock, Nebraska, located between Lincoln and Omaha. He earned his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Nebraska. Jon is proud to say he performed with the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band in college. Jon has previously worked as a reporter for KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri from 1993 to 1994, then as a reporter/weekend anchor at KOLN/KGIN-TV from 1994 to 1995. After that, he went to WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. For nearly seven years, Jon reported and co-anchored for a number of different newscasts, including the 10 o'clock news on Fox affiliate WTNZ. WATE and WTNZ share news resources.
Jon enjoys traveling, being involved in church music groups, golfing, cooking, following college sports, and going to movies. Jon and his wife have a son and a daughter.
